When I'm grown up
Reinier sent me a blog meme yesterday (all the way from Holland), asking me what I'd like to be when I'm grown up. Talking about the past is rather easy, the future is somewhat more tricky. But anyway, here I go:
- As a kid
I can't remember I cared a lot about my (professional) future when I was a kid. However, I did consider the usual heroic professions: firefighter, police officer, veterinarian, ...
- As a teenager
As a teenager I knew it pretty well: I wanted to become journalist. I actually even started my journalism studies, but after the first general year I chose to go the other way (being Public Relations). I never regretted that decision. - Now
I am currently finishing my master's degree in Communication and Multimedia Design, meanwhile running my own web development studio and working on some other interesting projects. I love the mixture of all kinds of different tasks and disciplines, and it was one of the main reasons I decided to return to school. - Later
"Later" in this case refers to the near future, as that's what currently keeps me busy. I really feel comfortable in the online/interactive communications area, and I'm convinced things will only get more interesting as new technologies emerge/mature. As a result of this site, I received quite some emails and phone calls over the last few weeks, mainly regarding designer/programmer jobs. However, I rather see myself in a consulting role. But obviously, that can - and probably does - go closely with the more technical stuff.

Interesting, especially the 'later' part.
