Barcamp

I just read Bruno's thoughts on Barcamp #4. It was indeed a little disappointing that a number of the 70+ registered people in the end couldn't make it to Brussels. I was really looking forward to meeting some of them. It was also true that there wasn't this typical exciting "yeah-we're-at-Barcamp" atmosphere you could notice during previous editions. Probably partly because of some enthusisastic people not being able to show up, partly because of the less inspirational location. Still we've been taken care off perfectly, I've seen quite a number of high-quality presentations and I had interesting conversations with both regulars and people I had never met before.

I was at Stichting Marketing Congres on Friday and visited Barcamp Brussels yesterday. While you're paying an aweful lot of money for the first one, you could barely say it results in better content. True, some speakers were outstanding, but some others clearly missed the passion that's so typical about Barcamp presentations. People launching their own projects, talking freely about what they're good at and what they love. Something all too often lacking in today's seminars. I really hope Peter will continue organizing Belgian Barcamps, that a massive number of people will be able to show up for the spring edition and that Barcamp #5 by far will be the best edition ever.

By the way, you can find my presentation (or at least one that's very similar) and the videos I referred to in this post.
