  • I've got over a thousand euro to spent, but nobody wants it
Posted on 12 July 2008 in Rant, Apple and Iphone
Well, in fact it's even worse: I've got to beg people to accept my money and every time again they turn me down, adding me to some dull waiting list. I mean, I wouldn't mind waiting for a custom ordered Maybach car or something, but we're talking about a mobile phone here. Three different models. Millions of people expected to get one. That's re .. read more
  • iPhone on Friday in Belgian stores: some more evidence (seven comments)
Posted on 8 July 2008 in Apple, Iphone and Belgium
Okay, let's go for a somewhat risky prediction: Mobistar will announce the iPhone to be available in Belgian stores as of next Friday, July 11. I'm basing this prediction partly on an article posted to the L'Echo website (thanks @jente for pointing there), partly on an email Nick forwarded me this morning from a (very) reliable source. Can't rea .. read more
  • iPhone in Belgium: results of the experiment (four comments)
Posted on 15 June 2008 in Apple, Iphone, Belgium and Stats
Back in February, I started iPhone-winnen.be, a little crowdsourcing experiment to find out when the iPhone would be released in Belgium. While I admit my experiment was far from scientific, it was interesting to see the evolution of the voting results nevertheless. Probably inspired by the numerous rumors and Steve's upcoming keynote at WWDC, .. read more
  • A thousand participants can't be wrong
Posted on 17 April 2008 in Belgium, Iphone, Stats and Apple
Allright, iphone-winnen.be has reached the magical number of a thousand contest participants. After only two months of being online, I guess it's fair to say that this is a pretty good result. Compared to last month, a lot of people (over 35%) still expect a Belgian iPhone launch in May. Most analists however expect a 3G iPhone launch in June. .. read more
  • What makes people expect the Belgian iPhone in May? (two comments)
Posted on 27 March 2008 in Belgium, Iphone, Apple and Stats
I've been thinking about this for a few days now, but I can't come up with a decent reason. A major part of the iPhone-winnen.be participants is picking May as the month to expect a Belgian iPhone. That's rather strange: after last month's Astel.be announcement (picked up by some major newspapers) of a Belgian iPhone release in June, I'd expec .. read more
  • Finally a unified contact list for iChat
Posted on 3 March 2008 in Apple, Ichat, Chax, Mac and Software
One of my major annoyances about Apple iChat is the contact list and the fact that it uses separate windows for every account (.Mac, AIM, Google Talk, ...) you log in to. I never really got the reason for that: I just want to know who's online, regardless of the service they're using. Fortunately, the latest version of Chax (an iChat plugin y .. read more
  • Time capsule (three comments)
Posted on 1 March 2008 in Apple, Backup, Time Capsule and Mac
Gizmodo has an extensive review of Time Capsule, Apple's recently announced combination of an AirPort base station and a 500MB/1TB backup hard disk (compatible with Leopard's Time Machine software). And guess what: according to Gizmodo the Time Capsule really is as cool as it sounds. Must have!
  • Tech company logo evolutions (two comments)
Posted on 19 February 2008 in Logo, Design, Adobe, Apple and Nokia
I've got no idea whether it's something typical to geeks, but I love to read about how it all started for today's big technology brands. Even their original logos have great stories to tell. Take Adobe, for example. It's first logo (1982) was designed by founder John Warnocks wife. She did a pretty good job actually, compared to what Apple came .. read more
  • The iPhone in Belgium: probably April (four comments)
Posted on 17 February 2008 in Iphone, Apple, Belgium and Stats
As much as I (and I guess quite a number of this blog's readers too) would like to know about a Belgian release date for the iPhone, I'm afraid only very few people (if any?) will be able to pinpoint the exact date. Therefore I decided to launch a little wisdom of the crowds experiment, only to see whether it would somehow be able to show sig .. read more
  • Should I upgrade my .Mac account? (five comments)
Posted on 24 December 2007 in Apple and Mac
Allright, my .Mac trial account is expiring tomorrow and I still don't know whether or not I should pay for the €99 full membership upgrade. So far I've only found the sharing (iCal and Address book), syncing/backup and storage to be worth using. I don't care about publishing photos (Flickr) or websites and Gmail offers me better email for les .. read more
  • Christmas song (one comment)
Posted on 14 December 2007 in Apple, Ads and Christmas
One week before Christmas (holidays!). I'm getting in the mood already.
  • Ellen Feiss is on Facebook
Posted on 14 November 2007 in Ellen Feiss, Facebook, Apple and Ads
I just noticed that Ellen Feiss - the stoned bummer girl - has a Facebook profile. I'm not the only one who noticed though, as she's got about 350 Facebook friends. Still it's quite cool to see that someone mythical is so close. If you'd like to know what Ellen has been doing since the 2002 switch-to-Apple commercial, you should check her Wik .. read more
  • Leopard stack overlays (five comments)
Posted on 11 November 2007 in Apple, Leopard and Mac
@junkiesxl just tweeted this truly cool tip (original here) about Leopard stacks. While stacks are adding great value to OSX, it's true that it's sometimes hard to spot the difference between a regular file and a stack in the dock. The stack overlay icons provided in the download file really make the stacks stand out. Something Apple should co .. read more
  • Brand new
Posted on 3 September 2007 in Nocus, Work, Mac and Apple
Today was officially my first day at work. No deadlines to cope with and starting off slowly, I could spend quite some time getting used to my brand new MacBook, Cinema Display, Mighty Mouse and Apple Keyboard. I must say it's pretty nice to work in a place that looks mac-ier than the average Apple Store.By the way, there's no need to be scepti .. read more
  • Would you wait for the iPhone? (seven comments)
Posted on 20 May 2007 in Apple and Iphone
I've been looking for a new smartphone for quite a while now. Not the BlackBerry kind of things, but an attractive, pocket-size multimedia hand-held offering me at least: An easy to use organiser A decent camera which allows me to upload directly to Flickr Bluetooth and Wireless LAN Synchronization with mac No Windows Mobile OS A .. read more
