  • Web design trends for 2010 (eight comments)
Posted on 12 November 2009 in Design, Web Design and Presentation
Here's the slides from the 2010 corporate web design trends presentation I did yesterday at Rabobank. While you can certainly argue we won't be seeing many corporate sites going as far as some of the examples shown, I thought it would be good to take these extremes as a starting point. Given the vivid discussion afterwards, I think that turned o .. read more
  • Awesome web designers using Fireworks (seven comments)
Posted on 30 April 2009 in Adobe, Fireworks, Web Design and Design
Okay, to prove my point in an ongoing Photoshop versus Fireworks discussion at work, I'm trying to list the world's most awesome web designers using Fireworks as their preferred (web) graphics editor to create websites and application interfaces. Benjamin De Cock Jon Hicks me ;-) Patrick Haney I don't know about too many people .. read more
  • Belgian's finest: 49 webdesigns you just got to see (seven comments)
Posted on 17 February 2009 in Belgium, Web Design, Design and Inspiration
Dutch webdesigners TND Media just published a post called "49 Beautiful Webdesigns: Made in Belgium". While the list contains a number of well-known (and well-deserved) classics, I especially appreciated some of the designs I'd never seen before (and thus weren't featured in the Web design studios in Belgium list either). As TND puts it: yes, we .. read more
  • Logo evolutions (2)
Posted on 9 October 2008 in Logo and Design
Here's an interesting follow-up on an earlier post on logo evolutions. @nielshendriks just pointed to this pretty extended list of company logos. Some of them have really come a long way. Recognize any of these?
  • Which Twiddict logo would you prefer? (16 comments)
Posted on 2 July 2008 in Twiddict, Design and Twitter
You may have read Robin's post on The Next Web blog already, explaining that we unexpectedly ran into some legal problems as the American Red Cross no longer allows us to use the red cross in the Twiddict logo. While we haven't yet decided - we're still waiting for their reply - whether or not we're going to change the color (or replace the c .. read more
  • Tech company logo evolutions (two comments)
Posted on 19 February 2008 in Logo, Design, Adobe, Apple and Nokia
I've got no idea whether it's something typical to geeks, but I love to read about how it all started for today's big technology brands. Even their original logos have great stories to tell. Take Adobe, for example. It's first logo (1982) was designed by founder John Warnocks wife. She did a pretty good job actually, compared to what Apple came .. read more
  • I'm not a designer (four comments)
Posted on 22 August 2007 in Design, Web Design and Work
I feel pretty honored to be part of this list - even though I didn't make it to the crème de la crème toplist - among people I deeply admire (their portfolios that is, as I don't know any of them personally). I don't consider myself a designer: real (web) designers (in my opinion) are able to deliver aesthetically pleasing, usable and contempora .. read more
  • Virblicious (one comment)
Posted on 30 March 2007 in Virb, Design and Inspiration
Last night during i-City's mobile party I was talking to Tim about some awesome Virb profiles I had come across (if you don't know about Virb, I wrote about it before). He blamed me for not sharing them, which I'm sorry about ;-). Therefore, here's five of my favorite Virb profiles. Check them out and feel free to post your own favorites!
  • The day MySpace died (nine comments)
Posted on 10 March 2007 in Social Network, Design, Virb and Myspace
Just tried out Virb after I saw Bram.us and Bart wrote about it. Virb is like MySpace, but that's about where the comparison ends. Virb is an Unborn Media - the PureVolume people - project, which means that the app really is a pleasure for the eye. Moreover, they also took care to write proper code, which means that you can customize about every .. read more
