  • Twistory is three weeks old: some numbers
Posted on 9 December 2008 in Twitter, Twistory and Stats
Some three weeks ago we launched the public beta version of Twistory. Time for some stats: 3315 Twitter users have tried Twistory so far, that's some 150 a day. Obviously, not of all of those continue to use the service (to be honest, I guess most of them just tried it out just once). Since November 14, Twistory.net received 11002 visito .. read more
  • RSS reading habits (one comment)
Posted on 28 October 2008 in Google, Reader, Rss and Stats
I recently forced myself to spend more time reading again, as it had become a somewhat obligatory Saturday morning job. I'm not just talking about RSS only (I've got a pile of magazines and books laying on my desk), but I'm following this unwritten rule to first empty my RSS inbox, then pick up the magazines and leave the books for vacation time .. read more
  • It's okay to use Hotmail for business email (three comments)
Posted on 16 September 2008 in Email, Marketing, Stats and Analytics
Well, at least you're not the only one doing so. According to Salted Services (producers of the pretty awesome Litmus app) 33% of all business recipients use Hotmail to read email newsletters. That makes Hotmail the second popular email client after Outlook (36%) (full report). I'm just wondering how this compares to real world usage. I for one .. read more
  • iPhone in Belgium: results of the experiment (four comments)
Posted on 15 June 2008 in Apple, Iphone, Belgium and Stats
Back in February, I started iPhone-winnen.be, a little crowdsourcing experiment to find out when the iPhone would be released in Belgium. While I admit my experiment was far from scientific, it was interesting to see the evolution of the voting results nevertheless. Probably inspired by the numerous rumors and Steve's upcoming keynote at WWDC, .. read more
  • Mobile users account for 13% of website traffic (two comments)
Posted on 14 May 2008 in Mobile Web, Mobile, Stats and Nielsen
@niggler (who happens to work with Nielsen) posted a tweet pointing to an interesting press release this afternoon about Nielsen TotalWeb. Basically TotalWeb integrates data from both Nielsen Mobile and Nielsen Online to show the unique audience for more than 200 leading (US) websites. That's pretty interesting, and so are the results. In gen .. read more
  • A thousand participants can't be wrong
Posted on 17 April 2008 in Belgium, Iphone, Stats and Apple
Allright, iphone-winnen.be has reached the magical number of a thousand contest participants. After only two months of being online, I guess it's fair to say that this is a pretty good result. Compared to last month, a lot of people (over 35%) still expect a Belgian iPhone launch in May. Most analists however expect a 3G iPhone launch in June. .. read more
  • Analyze your viral videos with YouTube Insights
Posted on 28 March 2008 in Youtube, Flickr, Stats and Analytics
Here's another reason not to host those viral videos on your own servers (apart from the community features, bandwith/money saving, YouTube api, ...): YouTube now offers YouTube Insights, a free Google Analytics-style tool to check your video's popularity, both over time and across countries. See it for yourself: log in, click to your Account p .. read more
  • What makes people expect the Belgian iPhone in May? (two comments)
Posted on 27 March 2008 in Belgium, Iphone, Apple and Stats
I've been thinking about this for a few days now, but I can't come up with a decent reason. A major part of the iPhone-winnen.be participants is picking May as the month to expect a Belgian iPhone. That's rather strange: after last month's Astel.be announcement (picked up by some major newspapers) of a Belgian iPhone release in June, I'd expec .. read more
  • The iPhone in Belgium: probably April (four comments)
Posted on 17 February 2008 in Iphone, Apple, Belgium and Stats
As much as I (and I guess quite a number of this blog's readers too) would like to know about a Belgian release date for the iPhone, I'm afraid only very few people (if any?) will be able to pinpoint the exact date. Therefore I decided to launch a little wisdom of the crowds experiment, only to see whether it would somehow be able to show sig .. read more
  • Want a job in online media? Your timing is great
Posted on 5 June 2007 in Job and Stats
Robert last night pointed me to an Advertising Age article which will probably sound like good news to anyone graduating or looking for something new. According to the article, US employment at internet media companies last month reached 40.000 (which I consider to be a rather low number anyway). While the current rise started at 28.200 in Dece .. read more
  • Belgian web agencies top 50 (five comments)
Posted on 6 March 2007 in Agency, Stats and Top 50
Today I received my monthly copy of Inside magazine, featuring a list of the top 50 Belgian web agencies. As you may know, I die for this kind of lists and statistics, even though results for a web agency top list are more or less expectable. Anyway, here's the top 10, based on their 2006 turnover: LBI Belgium (previously DAD) Emakina .. read more
  • Thanks for dropping by
Posted on 5 March 2007 in Traffic and Stats
Thanks everyone for passing by and clicking around. As a result of some nice people linking to this place, the site is currently generating quite a bit of traffic. Obviously, that's what it was made for, so you won't hear me complaining. By the way, some people asked me if it was still worth trying to win the shuffle. Trust me, it is. In fact t .. read more
