Posted on 30 December 2008 in Trends
I'm a sucker for next year's trends and predictions lists (check my collection so far). They usually have this over-optimistic tone, making you want to dive headfirst into what's to come. This is what I would have looked like in 1982.Apart from being a fun tool to play with, YearBookYourself actually provides a pretty interesting overview of fashion trends over the last 50 years.I was a little late to the party myself so I basically only "experienced" the late-eighties/nineties look, but the earlier ones look rather familiar as w .. read more - 2008 is the year of mobile: here's the proof (one comment)

We already had the devices, applications and data plans, and soon we'll have the users as well. The video below is part one of three of a video interview done by Trendwolves, all of which are published to .. read more - Privacy is dead (five comments)

While I was reading Bart's trendwatching post, I thought of a YouTube video I saw a few days ago. It features one of the directors of the secundary school I used to frequent (which was a great school by the way) who is misbehaving during a school party. The movie isn't really shocking, but as for a school director this could result in quite some .. read more - I love the fact my girlfriend hates social media (four comments)

We had a little bit of an argument a few days ago over the fact that I all too often assume she knows about the things I posted to my blog(s), Twitter, my Flickr or something similar. She doesn't read those however, or at least she doesn't want to learn about my life the online way. I think she's totally right. As a social media user/evangelist .. read more - 2.0 is so dead, this time for real (three comments)

A few weeks ago Tom wrote he was replacing web 2.0 by Marketing in the conversation era. I didn't agree with him for two reasons. First of all because he was just substituting one buzzword for another. Secondly, and that's even more important, because he replaced something that wasn't about marketing back when it was introduced, by a new term th .. read more
