Chances are you already found it out through Twitter or Facebook, but things aren't official until they've been blogged about, right? As of tomorrow morning, I'll be working for Proximity BBDO as a Digital Strategic Expert. There's not too much I can tell you about that just yet, except for the fact that I'm very much looking forward to it! - The new Pixelpanic.be is up (three comments)
Posted on 25 January 2010 in Pixelpanic and Work
You may have noticed I recently redesigned and relaunched Pixelpanic.be. A few people asked me whether I decided to stop the job hunt and chose to go freelance full-time. I'm not. In fact, the job hunt is going pretty well and I hope to take a decision somewhere next week. I did however want to change the Pixelpanic site (I've been planning to .. read more - Daily StartupTriplets via Twitter

Now this is pretty cool: startup advice in exactly three words. There's a list of 50 tips for you to read at onstartups.com (and a whole lot more in the comments section). While it's interesting to read through the entire list, it's probably hard to remember (and implement) them all at once. Wouldn't it be great to focus on one single tip every .. read more - Switching jobs
Posted on 23 December 2009 in Job, Work and Nocus
As you may have read on Twitter already, I decided to leave my job at NOCUS for something new. I felt that the last few months, I was missing the challenge in what I was doing. I want to find out about things, fantasize about solutions and scenarios, then bring them to reality. Somehow I ended up spending too much time doing the less exciting pa .. read more - Three weeks off: the results

I just switched off my Out of office reply, officially marking the end of my holidays. To make sure I wasn't going to waste those three weeks watching TV or playing FarmVille, I created a public to do list and posted it to this blog. Here's the final results: spend some time hiking in the Mala Fatra and High Tatras => That was really the ea .. read more - Three weeks off

I'll be Out of office for the next three weeks and I am so very much looking forward to it. As it's been a while since last time, my calendar and to do list are already full in advance. Not complaining though, as it's all looking pretty exciting. So here's what I'm planning to do: spend some time hiking in the Mala Fatra and High Tatras .. read more - Sneak peek (six comments)

Here's a very first post on a project I just started working on. - Kukoo 1.1
Posted on 20 June 2009 in Dockyard, Kukoo, Nocus and Work
We launched Kukoo 1.1 last Thursday, code named The One That Actually Works The Way We Wanted. The initial release (submitted as part of the INCA contest) did work, but as we had to move rather quickly (built in 4 days only) we had to leave a number of features out that we originally wanted to integrate. This 1.1 release brings them all. And ev .. read more - Leaders and losers (two comments)

If you're following me on Twitter, you probably know that I'm a huge Seth Godin fan. I just love to read his thought provoking ideas, urging to look at things differently. Take the video below for example. I quickly saw the first ten seconds yesterday after I found it on Twitter. Seth apparently watched the entire clip and wrote a post on Guy #3 .. read more - The Obarometer effect

Now this is rather cool. We launched a social media mashup for De Standaard this morning. It's called Obarometer and basically measures political activity on a number of popular social media. One of our interns spent a few hours trying to list all blogging and twittering politicians, but when I was just doing a Twitter search for obarometer, I f .. read more - Announcing Kukoo (two comments)

Last night we launched Kukoo, a brand new webapp as part of the INCA 09 applications contest. While we only spent 4 days (and nights) designing and developing the app, I'm pretty satisfied with the result of this first release. We've got quite some ideas on how to let this evolve into version two, but the cool thing really is that you can alread .. read more - URL shorteners (one comment)

There's a whole lot of talking about URL shorteners the last few days. While some people (not the least) argue that they suck, others think they're pretty cool (at least they're prepared to invest a whole lot of money in them). As you probably already know, we're building a URL shortener ourselves. Well, we're using the short URL as a way to lear .. read more - Westvleteren (two comments)

I just traded a box of Westvleteren for a very cool .com domain name I wanted for an app I'm currently working on. While I could have chosen for a *app.com or get*.com as an alternative, the *.com in this case was pretty important. I was happy to learn the former owner was a big fan of Belgian trappist and wanted to trade it for some exclusive .. read more - Ttrack: hold on a little longer please

Some of you may be wondering what happened to Ttrack, the app I announced at Barcamp Ghent. While I estimated a private beta somewhere around the end of December back then, we haven't been able to finish the alpha version yet. Both a number of other projects and extra features forced us to change the planning. Apart from some nasty bugs, things .. read more - MetaTale bashing (13 comments)

So yes, I guess we were a little over-ambitious when we first launched MetaTale. We felt like we were close to something ready to market, but things turned out to be a little bit more difficult. That's alright really, and we continued working and improving (and investing our very own money). Surely not as fast as we wanted, but we all have multi .. read more - Realtime Railtime info (three comments)
Posted on 1 February 2009 in Nocus, Dockyard, Iphone, Work and Mobile
Some three months ago my friend and former schoolmate Piet joined the NOCUS team as a developer. Soon after, we started an internal project called Dockyard, which basically comprises all non client related projects and other (techy) experiments. Today we're exactly in the middle of our official two-month evaluation period, working on both web- .. read more - Hire me: pick your price (three comments)

I love my Pixelpanic sidejob and always try to make it as less a job as possible. One of the things I probably hate most about it are the price quotes. I tried to create these fixed price packages so I could stop worrying about them, but as pretty much every web project is an entirely different thing, that didn't really work either. Some two weeks ago Tom and Koen (with whom I've previously worked on Twistory and Twiddict) asked me if I was interested in developing a new Twitter app. While one of my new year's resolutions was to stop doing Twitter apps and focus on other domains, I got involved anyway as the app really was something I was looking for myself: a Twitter fr .. read more - Poll: how do you use email? Posted on 28 December 2008 in Email, Poll, Project and Work
I'm currently working on something you could describe as an email productivity tool. While talking to people, I noticed pretty much everyone is using email in a different way. Some of them forward all their messages to just one inbox, while others are using a varying number of separate addresses. Some people told me they're checking their mailbo .. read more - Just launched: WeCards Facebook app
Posted on 22 December 2008 in Facebook, Wecards, Nocus, Project and Work
We just launched WeCards, a social ecards app, on Facebook. The application description sums it up nicely: "WeCards allows you to create ever growing, social ecards. Basically, use WeCards to send an ecard to one of your Facebook friends and watch it grow while it's being forwarded to other friends." It's been quiet here for the last few weeks, as we spent some lovely time in Southern Switzerland (on a political sidenote: living in a country dealing with similar issues as we Belgians do, the Swiss however appear to be quite proud of their nation - we might actually learn something there).Anyway, it took me a day or two to slow down - I had t .. read more - Sometimes work feels a lot like this

Well, sort of ... I had a lot of fun recording the nocus.tv movie clips last week, but I'm not planning to become a fulltime actor any time soon. When I originally launched this website a little less then a year ago (this is what it looked like back then), it was meant to get me nice job after school. That worked out fine and I turned the site into a personal blog. It's early December now, which means I've been working at Nocus for a little over three months now. After weeks of mistery we finally got to visit the new Nocus office building this morning. New perhaps isn't the appropriate word as it is in fact a restored factory, but boy does it look great! We're currently finishing the last bits and pieces for a major MetaTale update next week. Today was officially my first day at work. No deadlines to cope with and starting off slowly, I could spend quite some time getting used to my brand new MacBook, Cinema Display, Mighty Mouse and Apple Keyboard. I'm finally able to write about an exciting new project I've been working on the last couple of months, as it went live this morning.
